19th Century French Display Cabinet

19th Century French Display Cabinet

Description

This handsome vitrine cabinet is veneered in rich kingwood with a warm figured grain, its shaped marble top, flanked

by scrolling gilt bronze foliate mounts at each corner — a refined touch typical of quality French display

cabinetry.

The bowed glass front and sides are trimmed in gilt bronze beading, with figural gilt bronze mounts rising

along the front corners, giving the piece an architectural presence. Inside, adjustable glass shelving

provides ample room for displaying fine china, crystal, or decorative collections, while the case is raised on

cabriole legs finished with gilt bronze sabots.

This vitrine would make a fine formal display cabinet for a dining room or parlor, its curved glass sides

offering an especially attractive way to showcase collectibles from multiple angles.
