Description
This handsome table lamp is a fine example of American Arts & Crafts lighting design, distinguished by its crisp architectural lines and richly textured mosaic-effect glass shade. The pyramidal shade is fitted with panels of coral-orange slag glass, deliberately fractured and leaded into an organic, stone-like mosaic pattern that produces a warm, dappled glow when lit — a look sometimes described as a “turtleback” or fractured-glass treatment, prized in period Arts & Crafts lighting for its rich texture.
The shade is capped with a squared brass finial and rises from a slender, square-section brass standard, giving the piece a strong, vertical architectural presence.
The base is cast with a stepped, canted-corner foot
decorated with a Greek key and geometric banded motif in low relief, finished in a warm aged brass patina consistent with quality lighting of the early 20th century.
With its glowing coral glass and clean geometric lines, this lamp would suit a study, library, or den, offering the warm, textured lighting characteristic of the Arts & Crafts movement’s approach to interior illumination.
