Description
This tall, narrow vitrine cabinet is finished in rich mahogany with fine satinwood cross-banding along the top
edge, giving the case a crisp, elegant frame for its glazed door. A pair of gilt bronze fan-form corner mounts
decorate the upper corners of the door frame, echoed by matching mounts at the lower corners, adding
formal polish to the piece. C. 1910
Behind the single glazed door, four shelves provide generous, well-lit display space for a china, glass, or
curio collection, as shown filled with a varied grouping of cranberry glass, painted porcelain boxes, and
decorative smallwares. The cabinet is raised on gracefully out-swept legs terminating in sculptural gilt
bronze phoenix or swan-form feet, an elegant and distinctive detail that sets this piece apart from more
conventional cabriole-leg vitrines.
With its tall, narrow proportions and richly detailed gilt bronze feet, this cabinet would suit a hallway, corner,
or narrow wall space, offering abundant display room in a relatively compact footprint.
